On May 11th, Clean Aviation expert reviewers had the possibility to touch with their hands the wing installed on the NGCTR-TD.

T-WING Consortium has been working on the wing since 2018, and this achievement is the results of 8 years of hard work since consortium building.

This important milestone was achieved after a number of steps performed by the Consortium. After kick-off Meeting, T-WING Consortium successfully performed the System Requirement Review in 2018, Preliminary Design Review in 2019 and Critical Design Review in 2020, paving the way for the manufacturing readiness in 2021. Year 2022 was devoted at manufacturing all the tools, jigs and parts (composite and metallic) of the wing and Nacelle Primary Structure (NPS). Assembly Activities started in October 2022 at SALVER plant in Brindisi. The wing assembly was then delivered in April 2023 to partner OMI, that was in charge of the delicate installation of the NPS on the wing by following the strict requirements dictated by the specifications provided by Leonardo.

T-WING Consortium is coordinated by CIRA and it is composed by Large companies, SMEs and one University, mainly from Italy, having in charge different roles and responsibilities: CIRA (innovations, wind tunnel tests, flight instrumentation, scalability), MAGROUP Magnaghi Aeronautica (design, analysis and qualification), OMI (tools, jigs, metal parts, NPS manufacturing and installation), MAGROUP Salver (composite parts manufacturing, assembly activities), MAREGROUP (DFEM, crash and ditching, innovations), IBK-Innovation (loads and aeroelasticity), UNINA (Experimental Noise, Dynamic qualification).

Enjoy the video!

This is one of the key milestones in charge to T-WING Consortium to pave the way for NGCTR-TD first flight in 2023
